A man died from stab wounds to the chest after allegedly being attacked by his nephew.
Jonathan Harper, 64, is the victim at the centre of a murder probe after he was fatally wounded on July 31.
Company director Corin Harper-Davis, 36, has been charged with murder after his uncle, who is from Sevenoaks, died from his injuries in Devon.
Harper Davis, of Dermody Road, Hither Green, London, was remanded in custody and will appear before Exeter Crown Court on January 20.
An inquest into the Kent man’s death heard senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney explain the victim was in “an altercation for unknown reason” and suffered stab wounds to his chest at a property in Pikes Cottage Road, Brampford Speke, near Exeter.
The inquest has been adjourned until a later date.
Harper-Davis also faced a second charge of assaulting a police officer Laura Niblett.
