More than 100 new jobs will be created this year thanks to the opening of a new £13m, state-of-the art care home.

The 60-bed property to be known as Nesbit House is located just off the Orpington Bypass in Badger’s Mount, Sevenoaks.

Hamberley Care Homes who will the run the home said it was looking for a dedicated team of more than 100 healthcare professionals to work in what will be a flagship home for the group.

The first residents are expected this summer.

The home is named after Edith Nesbit, author of the well-loved children’s story The Railway Children, who settled for three years with her family at nearby Halstead Hall.

Nesbit House will offer residential, nursing and dementia care but with a difference.

The company will employ ‘homemakers’ who will be carers, house-keepers and companions all in one.

They will provide care and support for residents, including administering medicine under the guidance of a clinical team, but also take care of the general day to day housework.

They offer companionship and take an interest in the lives of our residents, supporting them with their choice of lifestyle and wellbeing.

The care home will have its own cinema, cafe, spa, sensory garden and hair salon.

The chief executive of Hamberley Care Homes, Paul Hill, said: “We’re recruiting team members who want to create an enriching and nurturing lifestyle for our residents, all as part of a genuine home-like community.

“We’re also recruiting nurses, who will be on-site 24hrs offering medical support for our residents, but all within a homely setting.”
