Motorists in Sevenoaks are invited to attend the latest number plate safety event this weekend.
Police officers will be fitting anti-tamper screws at the free of charge event in an attempt to combat number plate theft and vehicle crime.
The theft of number plates enables criminals to clone other cars whilst innocent drivers incur speeding fines, congestion charges and other offences.
They may also be used in the theft of petrol and diesel and in order to combat this police are encouraging this effective method of deterring thieves.
The one-way screws can't be easily moved once fitted and they are covered with a security cap for added protection.
The service will run on Saturday, August 16 between 1pm and 4pm outside the Halfords store in Sevenoaks Retail Park, Otford Road.
Motorists are advised that the service may not be possible on plates which are either stuck on or have plastic or rusty screws.
