Air ambulance and police called to Sevenoaks High Street after person hit by lorry

An 85-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a lorry in a town centre.

The accident happened in Sevenoaks High Street, near The Chequers pub at 10.45am, and the road was closed in both directions from the junctions with London Road and Pembroke Road.

Paramedics and police were also called.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries to his head, legs and arms and was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London for treatment.

A police spokesman said: "Enquiries are on-going into the circumstances surrounding the incident."

The road reopened at around 2pm.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses.

No arrests have been made in connection to the incident and the driver of the lorry is assisting officers with their inquiries.
