Two former Phones 4u stores in Kent have been transformed into new EE branches.

The stores in Tonbridge High Street and Bligh's Meadow in Sevenoaks have opened this week after previously closing in September when Phones 4u was plunged into administration.

The company's downfall came after EE and Vodafone withdrew their supply.

The Phones 4U website was taken offline and replaced with a message to customers illustrated with a sad face.

16 branches in the county were closed and almost 1,700 jobs were lost nationwide.

It is understood that Vodafone bought 160 of the stores that closed in the nation.

Now, two of the branches closed in Kent have re-opened their doors for businesses - this time as EE stores.

The launch of the new EE shops in place of Phones 4u comes after the company made a £2.5 million deal to buy nearly 60 shops after the phone company went into administration.

A spokesperson for EE said: "We're pleased to confirm the opening of a new EE store in Sevenoaks Shopping Centre.

"All store staff have also transferred from P4U to join the EE team with immediate effect. We look forward to serving the local community in our new store.”
