A Pink Floyd tribute band has been forced to postpone its upcoming concerts after a band member was rushed to hospital with life-threatening symptoms.

The Floyd Effect band were meant to perform at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks on Saturday, but on Monday singer and guitarist John Lovegrove was taken to hospital and required surgery.

The procedure has ruled him out of performing for at least a month, but the band say his prognosis is "excellent" and they're looking forward to betting back on road in June after a planned summer break.

A spokesman for the group said: "It’s with huge disappointment that we have to announce the postponement of our concerts in Sevenoaks and Yarm this month.

"John was rushed to hospital on Monday night with life-threatening symptoms and has since had surgery – one of the consequences of which is that he will be unable to perform for at least a month.

"Thankfully, his prognosis is excellent and we look forward to being back on the road after our planned summer break in June.

"We are already rescheduling with both venues, and expect all tickets to remain valid.

"But we realise that the new dates may not be convenient for everyone so, if you can’t join us, please contact the theatres and we’re sure that they will take care of you.

"We’re so sorry about this. We can only hope that we’ll meet you all in a few months rather than this one. Apologies to all.

"P.S. We would like to thank both the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks and the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in Yarm for their understanding and for being so supportive. We really appreciate it."
