Sevenoaks: New Buckhurst car park plans unveiled
09:45, 15 June 2017
Updated proposals for a new car park in Sevenoaks have been revealed by the district council.
The original plans drawn up in 2014 have been altered so that a new, partially submerged, four-level car park will be constructed on the existing Buckhurst 2 car park site in the town centre.
The construction of 10 town houses on the boundary bordering Knole Park are also included in the new proposal.
The council claims that it will aid residents and businesses by easing congestion and providing spaces for those on the waiting list for season ticket parking.
Councillor Peter Fleming, Sevenoaks District Council leader, said: “This will ensure the continued economic success of the town, helping local businesses and residents alike.”
The updates to the proposal were made after suggestions from the local community. The council is holding three public events at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, Buckhurst Lane, on Sunday from 10am-3pm, Monday, 10am-9pm and Tuesday, 10am-7pm.
A planning application will be submitted at the end of the month and if approved construction will begin in January 2018 and last for around a year.
