Bat and Ball junction in Sevenoaks malfunctions after road resurfacing works

15:00, 31 August 2016

A major junction in Sevenoaks is currently experiencing signal malfunctions following roadworks.

The problem is at the Bat and Ball junction.

Traffic lights at the intersection of Seal Road, Bradbourne Vale Road, Otford Road and St John's Hill, are delaying drivers, they are staying on red for different durations depending on the direction people are travelling in.

One driver, Craig Duncan, complained on Twitter about how he'd seen 22 cars let through the lights in one direction, but only two in the other.

The traffic detector loops have been damaged during recent resurfacing works at the interchange.

Roadworks have been conducted throughout August, and engineers are now going back to re-cut the loops to bring traffic signalling back to normal.

A spokesperson for Kent County Council said that half of the signals had been sorted last night, and the others should be done tonight.
