Schools in west Kent have issued a warning to parents after a pupil was reportedly spoken to by two men in a car yesterday.

Several primary schools including Dunton Green, Amherst and Sevenoaks have e-mailed to inform parents of the incident which is said to have happened in Pilgrims Way West, Sevenoaks.

The warning says a former Sevenoaks Primary School pupil, who is now in year 7 at a Tunbridge Wells secondary school, was walking home just after 5pm when a Smart car with two men in reportedly stopped and asked the boy to get in.

The message to parents adds: "He sensibly ran away and the police have been informed. He is quite shaken up so we would ask all parents to reminds children about stranger danger and be vigilant and tell an adult if something similar happens to them."

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Police were called to a report of suspicious behaviour in Otford. A child reported that two men in a Smart car were acting suspiciously causing him to run away.

"Officers have spoken to the boy and enquiries are ongoing."

The spokesman also stressed no attempts to snatch the boy were made.
