Train stations 'spoil town's image'
09:29, 20 December 2002
A PASSENGER group has told South East rail operators that the two stations in Sevenoaks are a "disgrace and give a very poor first impression of the town".
Sevenoaks Rail Travellers' Association has written to Connex South Eastern, Railtrack and Kent County Council saying that it wants stations fit for visitors and residents; assured access for the disabled; safe, punctual train services;12-car trains for commuters; adequate seating on all services and timely, accurate customer information.
Sevenoaks Mayor, Cllr Richard Parry, said: "There may be some hope following the appointment of Richard Pearson, the new station manager."
Sevenoaks has a main station and the Bat and Ball on the northern edge of the town.
