It's official.
Ishwar Sharma from Sevenoaks is a child prodigy.
The 10-year-old was invited to New Delhi on January 3 to receive his Global Child Prodigy Award from the Lieutenant Governor of Puduchery, Kiran Bedi, in the presence of senior Indian parliamentarians and Nobel peace laureate Kailash Sathyarthi, although unfortunately a school exam on the same day stopped him from attending.
Ishwar was one of 100 child prodigies selected from 1500 nominations across 45 countries in 30 different categories, including science, maths, singing and martial arts.
Ishwar's own speciality is yoga. He has already won gold in the European Yoga championships and has won a British Citizen Youth Award from the UK government for his contribution to yoga.
Ishwar is a pupil at St Michael's Preparatory School in Otford.
He said: "I am honoured and humbled to be among the 100 prodigies in the world. I thank all my supporters for nominating me , and my parents and Gurus for encouraging me to take up yoga and the Almighty for showering his everlasting grace upon me."
