Conway eyeing podium finishes

MIKE CONWAY has secured a deal with Trident Racing for the 2008 GP2 season.
The Sevenoaks racer completed his rookie year with the Super Nova team last season and will be hoping for bigger and better things this time out.
Conway said: “The team has a proven record in GP2 and I believe we can be competing for podium finishes at every race weekend.
“Having completed my rookie season I have knowledge of all the tracks and the experience of racing at this level, which gives me the foundations to be competing at the front right from the start of the season.”
Team principal at Trident, Alessandro Alunni Bravi, said: “We know that next season will be vital for Mike’s bid to build a successful future in Formula 1.
“Trident Racing will do anything possible to provide Mike with the best technical material and to help him in the best possible way.”
Conway’s aims of making it into Formula 1 took another step closer after test driving Honda’s F1 machine in Spain at Jerez and Barcelona.
“It was a privilege to drive a Honda F1 car and an awesome experience,” said Conway.
“The car was well balances and more powerful than the GP2 car I’m used to and it was a real pleasure to drive.”
