Sheerness Tesco staff aim for Lapland, but had to settle for Coventry in a fundraiser for Diabetes UK

Staff taking part in a sponsored charity cycle were aiming for Lapland but had to settle for Coventry.
Employees at Tesco, in Bridge Road, Sheerness, took it in turns to put in 30 minute shifts on an exercise bike in the shop from Friday to Sunday. They were attempting to ride the equivalent distance to Lapland – about 2,000 miles – but had to settle for 151.
More importantly, however, they raised £806 in the process, through collection buckets and sponsorship, for Diabetes UK, the supermarket chain’s charity of the year.
Tesco community champion Hazel Webb said: “It was a team effort to raise as much as we could. A big thank you to staff who took part and the customers for their generosity.”
