Oasis Isle of Sheppey Academy aims to recruit £33k school chaplain

The Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey is looking for a new chaplain and is offering a salary of up to £33,000.
The full-time role would entail pastoral care, family support, working with young people as well as mentoring and running community activities. The successful candidate would also provide “spiritual guidance” to staff and students.
An advert appeared on the CharityJob website which said applicants would be required to “embrace” Christian beliefs.
A spokesman said the role is part of plans for an Oasis Hub which will see projects run not only for pupils but also the rest of the community.
He said the chaplain would be expected to be “the tangible portrayal of the Oasis ethos. Modelling, teaching and representing our Oasis ethos values of inclusion, equality, relationships, hope and perseverance; work with adults, children and young people across a broad range of working environments including education, community work, youth work, and church”.
The deadline for applications ended on Thursday and interviews will begin interviews on Friday.
The job is for a fixed-term contract and would run until July 2016. The salary offered was between £28,922 and £33,128 with a local government pension included.
The school was officially taken over by the Oasis Community Learning and executive principal David Millar in January.
