Man arrested after car crashes into lamppost in Queensway, Sheerness

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car crashed into a lamppost in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to reports the car, a silver BMW, had hit a parked car before crashing into the lamppost in Queensway, Sheerness, at 2.45am.

It happened outside the Premier store, opposite the junction with Hawthorn Avenue.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended and a 40-year-old man, from Gillingham, was taken to a local hospital.

"The man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit."

He was taken into police custody.
