Emergency services called to crashed black BMW in Marine Parade, Sheerness

A black BMW has been left a write-off after crashing into a speed camera warning sign.

The smash happened earlier today in Marine Parade, Sheerness, at the junction with Seager Road.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to the scene.

The four-door BMW came to rest on the pavement at the foot of a flight of steps leading to the sea wall. Both its front and rear windscreens were left shattered by the impact.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 5.45am following a collision involving two vehicles in Marine Parade, Sheerness.

"The incident also led to a lamppost being damaged. There were no serious injuries reported. UK Power Networks has been notified of damage to the lamppost."

An ambulance crew took one patient to Medway Maritime Hospital.

Kent Fire and Rescue mopped up leaking fuel to make the scene safe.
