Concerned residents dialled 999 last night after spotting flames from a large bonfire rising into the sky above Minster on the Isle of Sheppey.
Crews were called to land off Abbey Close just before 8pm.
But when firefighters arrived they found that despite its size the fire was not out of control.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Because of the size of the fire we received multiple calls.
"We let it burn out under control."
