Sheppey was cut-off from the mainland after both routes on and off the island were closed at the same time due to concerns for a man's welfare.
The A249 Sheppey Crossing and the Kingsferry Bridge were shut in both directions while police attended last night.
Drivers were warned the closure was in place between the Lower Halstow turn-off for the B2231 Sheppey Way and the Leysdown junction on the main bridge.
The Kingsferry Bridge was also closed between Ferry Road and the A249 turn-off for Lower Halstow.
Police confirmed they were called to the A249 Sheppey Crossing at 8.15pm following concern for a man in the area.
Officers attended, assisted by a police helicopter, and the man was safely located.
The Sheppey Crossing and the Kingsferry Bridge were reopened at around 8.45pm and 10.30pm respectively.
