Carnival on – but more help needed

A summer carnival will take place this year –
but organisers are desperate for support.
Over the past few weeks, the Times Guardian has
reported how the future of the Leysdown-on-Sea Summer Carnival was
thrown into doubt after a mix-up with paperwork.
Paul Day, the chairman of the Leysdown Events Organisation,
which is responsible for the carnival, said he was refused use of
The Spinney because the parish council said it did not receive the
application.
Another event was given the go-ahead instead – but has since
been cancelled on the Saturday so the carnival can proceed on July
30 and 31.
Mr Day is pleased it is back on because he has put in six
months’ hard work, but he said he needs Leysdown to get behind the
event.
He added: “The carnival is going ahead but please, please get
involved.
“We need people to enter floats and we need local groups, clubs,
and organisations to get in touch.”
