Organisers are planning to make a cider festival an annual feature after it raised more than £2,000 for charity.
The Isle of Sheppey Round Table held the fundraiser at the Rose Inn in Queeenborough High Street on June 26.
About 300 people attended to sample 17 different varieties of cider, all from Kent farms.
There was also live music from Trouser Trumpets and Carter’s Alibi.
The money is now available for groups and good causes in the community.
Organisers are hoping the festival can became a regular money spinner after they decided to call time on the Donkey Derby, which ran for 46 years, after it became no longer financially viable.
Round Table spokesman Matt Bromley said: “The sun was shining, the cider was flowing. It was superb.
“What a great day.
“The atmosphere was brilliant, everyone was having fun and dancing.
“It’s our first one. Next year we are doing it again so it will be a regular event.”
He thanked H&L Graphics for making banners, Jen Woods for printing invitations, Dave and Jane Ingram for the use of the venue, Melvin and Margaret Hopper for guidance and putting them in touch with cider sellers, Sheppey EMUs and Paul Wilson who put on a disco free of charge.
The Round Table is holding a senior citizens’ concert with live music, dancing, bingo and a raffle.
The AmicusHorizon sponsored evening will take place at Sheerness East Working Men’s Club, Queenborough Road, Halfway, on July 17.
There is space for 100 pensioners with all food, entertainment and transport, including for those with extra mobility needs, provided for free.
