Firefighters and medics were called to a crash between a car and a lorry on Sheppey which resulted in three people being taken to hospital.
Two fire engines - one from Sheppey Fire Station and one from Eastchurch Fire Station - were sent to Scocles Road, Minster shortly before 3.10pm.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Crews are attending an accident involving a car and a large goods vehicle (LGV).
"The car was also on fire so crews are putting that out using a hose reel jet."
He added that crews were helping the ambulance service with one casualty, whose injuries are not yet known.
Police were turning traffic heading from Eastchurch on Lower Road around before the junction with Scocles Road.
A police spokesman said the accident involved a van and not just one but two cars.
He added: "Two men and a child were treated for injuries. They have been taken to a local hospital for further medical attention."
An ambulance service spokesman said the three casualties had been taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham.
The road has since reopened and traffic has cleared.
