World Cup fever is sweeping the nation - and Danny McLaughlin has found himself at the centre of attention thanks to his amazing resemblance to star player Harry Kane.

The Spurs forward and Golden Boot hopeful is preparing for England's biggest game in decades on Wednesday when the Three Lions take on Croatia in the semi-final.

And Kane's red-hot form has made council worker Danny, 26, a celebrity in his own right with fans posing for photos and videos whenever he is out and about.

Danny has a holiday home in Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey which he visits every weekend, and said the majority of his friends live in Minster, Queenborough, Gillingham and Strood.

He said: "When I walk in the street, wait on the platform for a train going to work or go shopping I have young lads asking for photos or telling me how much I look like Harry Kane.

"This Saturday I was in a pub watching the football where I was mobbed by fans, chanting to me about Harry Kane. At half time and the end of the game there were England supporters asking for photos and videos.

"They were sending them to their mums, dads and grandparents who wouldn't believe them when they said how similar I looked!

"The consistent comparisons and messages I receive from friends all came about since Harry Kane's success at Tottenham over the past two years, and especially this World Cup.

"It's funny because at first I didn't think I did look like him, but with all the people approaching me about it they can't all be wrong!"

Danny, who lives in West London and works for Hackney Council, is now waiting to see if his lookalike's golden touch will take England all the way to Sunday's final.
