The wheels are in motion for the publication of a complete guide to Sheppey – but organisers need your help.

The Sheppey Summer Brochure is due to be published in March and the people behind it are urging Islanders who have events planned this year to seize the opportunity of some free publicity.

The brochure is being co-ordinated by Jenny Hurkett, who runs the Blue Town Heritage Centre, and Heather Thomas-Pugh.

Some of the funding has come from Cllr Ken Pugh’s county council budget and it is being supported by the Sheerness Times Guardian.

Anyone who has an event organised for this year, right up until December, is invited to contact Jenny for it be included in the brochure.

As well as a complete list of Island events, the brochure will also include general Sheppey information such as a directory of local doctors and dentists.

It will be completely free for anyone who wants to publicise an event in the brochure.

Jenny hopes the brochure will be out in March, in time for the holiday season.

If you would like your event to be included in the Sheppey Summer Brochure, email your event details to bthc@btconnect.com

Jenny said: “We haven’t had as much response from people as we had hoped.

“It’s going to be quite a substantial brochure and it’s our opportunity to promote Sheppey.”

  • There will also be an opportunity for businesses to pay for advertising in the brochure. If you are interested in advertising, please contact Sharon Patrick at the Times Guardian on 01795 580300.
