A school has splashed out on 35 iPads to help children with their literacy, numeracy and research.

Richmond Primary in Sheerness has spent around £10,000 from its IT budget on the hi-tech gadgets and accessories.

There are enough iPads for one class, a teacher and a teaching assistant.

The idea is that they will boost teaching with a particular emphasis on literacy and numeracy.

It is also hoped they will help the pupils improve their research skills.

Head Annie Donaldson said: “The children are thrilled. They are really excited that we are doing something modern and cutting edge.

“The children recognise it’s very 21st century education and it’s great because it really enables them to take their learning that step further.”
