A thug who kicked a teen in the head and robbed him has been jailed.

In the space of a fortnight, Mason Kerswell, of Clements Road, Warden, was also twice found in possession of heroin which he had been supplying across the Island.

During that time he also attacked a teenager unprovoked, punching him to the ground where he continuously kicked him in the head until he passed out, before rifling through his things and robbing him.

The 25-year-old appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday where a judge gave him a six year sentence.

Police have explained how on July 16, 2019, 45 wraps of heroin and 34 of crack cocaine were found after Kerswell's home was searched by officers carrying out a warrant.

Drugs paraphernalia used to supply class A drugs, a mobile phone with messages alluding to drug dealing and large bag of cannabis were also found.

The drug dealer himself wasn't at the address but was tracked down and arrested four days later. However, he was released pending further inquiries as the force continued to analysis forensic and mobile phone data.

'Kerswell has clearly shown himself to be of exceptionally bad character...'

Two weeks after his arrest Kerswell was arrested at the Bridge Road car park in Sheerness.

Officers searched him and found eight wraps of heroin and £195 in cash.

Kerswelll was also sentenced for an assault which happened in Sheerness town centre shortly after midnight on October 4, 2019.

The thug noticed a group of young people using a cash machine in the High Street when he approached them before punching a 19-year-old in the face twice.

He left the area before running into the same group of people in Rose Street 25 minutes later where he, for a second time, assaulted the same victim.

Kerswell punched and kicked him to the ground before continuing to kick him in the head until he passed out.

While the victim laid their injured Kerswell rifled through his pockets and stole £200 in cash.

In court he admitted to possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply, as well has having cannabis, acquiring criminal property, actual bodily harm and theft.

Detective Sergeant Shaun Vidgeon, from Kent Police’s Sittingbourne CID, said: "Kerswell has clearly shown himself to be of exceptionally bad character.

"He viewed supplying heroin and crack cocaine as a game and had deluded idealisations of his criminal lifestyle.

'The danger he presents is further emphasised by his willingness to commit an unprovoked assault...'

"He was responsible for helping to spread the misery caused by misusing class A substances and I am pleased that our targeted warrant helped us obtain the evidence we needed to charge him.

"The danger he presents is further emphasised by his willingness to commit an unprovoked assault, which saw him repeatedly kick a person considerably younger than him in the face while they lay injured on the floor.

"I am pleased a custodial sentence has been enforced. It is entirely appropriate and clearly demonstrates no tolerance will be shown for anyone involved in such criminal activity."
