A Minster woman has spoken of the bizarre, celebrity-based hallucinations she experienced, in a bid to raise awareness of the disease which almost killed her.
Kerry MacKinnon said she received visitations from Peter Andre and the cast of TOWIE while under heavy medication during a battle with meningitis.
During one heavenly mirage, she said the Aussie singer appeared to reassure her she would survive the ordeal.
“He was standing in front of wrought iron gates, wearing a black three-piece suit,” she said.
“He looked at me and said, ‘It’s not your time, you’re getting better, go back’."
Kerry, 36, from Scrapsgate Road, said she’s aware some might think her strange for going public with her surreal and vivid apparitions.
“It’s hard to explain to anyone about what happened and what I saw,” she said.
“I was on so many drugs that were being administered to save my life.
“But I don’t care what other people think about my experience as long as it raises awareness.”
Kerry contracted bacterial meningitis in December 2011.
She had been suffering from flu-like symptoms for about a month before she was finally struck down and ended-up spending 10 days in a coma.

“I didn’t know anything about what had happened until I woke up,” she said.
“When they told me it was meningitis, I said, ‘only children get that’.
“But it’s a disease that can kill anyone at any age.”
Kerry, who works at Jimmy G’s Entertainment Centre in Leysdown, said she was susceptible to a myriad of weird and wild hallucinations while under sedation as her life hung in the balance, including one about Peter Andre’s famous ex-wife.
“I believed Katie Price was a vampire nurse,” she said.
“For hours I thought she was trying to kill me and I was truly terrified.
“I think it stemmed from the fact Peter had also suffered meningitis.”
Kerry said the visions occurred while she was fully awake.
Mark Wright, former star of reality TV series, TOWIE, was another subconscious visitor.
In her hallucinatory state, the Essex celebrity had suffered a diving accident and was placed in a decompression tank next to her Medway Maritime Hospital bed.
Kerry said she’s not a particular fan of either star, but Peter messaged her via Twitter yesterday, saying, “How are you? I’d love to hear your story”.
Despite the light-hearted element to her medically-inspired dreams, Kerry said the illness was “the scariest time of my life”.
“If it wasn’t for the fast action of my mum and all the doctors and nurses I wouldn’t be here to tell you my story,” she said.
