Breast feedingAwareness Week was celebrated at a children and families' centre when it held its first antenatal fair.
About 40 expectant mums attended Saturday’s event at Seashells in Rose Street, Sheerness.
Several dads-to-be were also there and they were given advice by the centre’s so-called dads’ tutor, Steve Chevis. Joy Grice, the centre’s oral health promoter, who is a former midwife, said: “We could have done with a few more expectant mums because it is so important to get across the message that breast is best when you have newly-born babies.
“Too many people think of breasts as just sexual objects.”
Among local stallholders promoting their wares was one offering plaster moulds of babies’ toes.
