Firefighters have extinguished a blaze at a derelict pub, but the cause is not yet known.
Four fire engines attended the inferno at the former Nore boozer in St George’s Avenue in Sheerness, at 4.09pm yesterday afternoon.
A height vehicle and a bulk water carrier were also deployed to put out the flames and make the area safe.
A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said on Saturday morning: “Firefighting operations are now complete at the scene of a fire involving a derelict building on St George’s Avenue, Sheerness.
“The fire was fully extinguished, and crews made sure that all remaining hot spots were dampened down.
“There were no reported injuries, and the cause is not yet known.”
People living or working near the area had been advised to close windows and doors, but those reccomendations are no longer in place.
This is the second time there has been a fire at the building in three years.
In March 2022, four crews were called to tackle a blaze there.
The Nore closed in 2012 and was turned into a restaurant called Cheema’s but changed its name to Alexander's in 2017 before closing a final time in 2019.
The ambulance service have been contacted for a comment.
