A flood alert has been issued for tomorrow morning along the Sheppey and north Kent coast by the Environment Agency.

The high tide expected in the early hours could cause problems for people in Sheerness, Minster, Queenborough and Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey, and between Kemsley, near Sittingbourne, and Seasalter, near Whitstable.

Particular concern has been highlighted for parts of Conyer and Faversham.

The tide is expected to peak just before 1am tomorrow morning but flooding is possible for two hours either side of this time.

The Environment Agency said: "We are monitoring the situation, though flooding to properties is not expected.

"Our incident response staff are checking our defences and structures and are prepared to respond if required.

"Please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous."

So far, no further alerts are expected in the coming days as conditions are set to improve.

Last week the highest tide levels in seven years submerged coastal paths and roads in Faversham after the Creek burst its banks.
