Football club's Olympic challenge

A Sheppey football club held its own version of the Olympics in a free event open to its child members and their parents.

Range Rovers FC, based in Range Road in Eastchurch, hosted the Roverlympics on Saturday in a nod to London 2012.

Participants competed across events including the hammer throw, discus, sprints, relays and even egg and spoon races.

At the end, the top three athletes from each age group got to stand on a podium for a medal ceremony.

Assistant secretary Chris James thanked everyone who took part and the volunteers who helped make the day a golden success.
