A Queenborough woman is the new star of Saturday night TV after making an appearance in an ad campaign.
Mavis O’Callaghan was spotted during a break in ITV entertainment show Take Me Out, which made its return last weekend.
She appears in one of a series of 10-second clips, called idents, for the takeaway ordering website Just Eat, which sponsors the programme.
The 87-year-old is well-known as she was a dinner lady at the three Cheyne schools for nearly 40 years and a governor at Halfway Houses Primary.
The adverts take the format of pairs of people sitting on a sofa having various discussions.
The one with Mrs O’Callaghan sees her talking with a red-haired younger man about ginger hair.
It all came about because her granddaughter, Sue Modral, 39, is employed by advertising firm Karmarama in London which been working on the campaign.
Mrs O’Callaghan said: “My granddaughter works in advertising and every so often she phones me up and I go up to London for the day.
“They were all very nice people. They were all youngsters and they tell you where to go and they work around you. They’re ever so good.”
It is not her first dabble in the industry, however. Her granddaughter also called on her services for an advert with Sir Ian McKellan a year ago.
It was a campaign for the charity Age UK, in which the Islander’s voice was dubbed over the Lord of the Rings actor’s as he spoke about some of the hardships faced by the elderly.
Mrs O’Callaghan said: “I had people ringing me up saying is that you?
“I didn’t know my voice was so distinctive.”
