A real life Rapunzel has donated over a foot of her locks to charity - and raised nearly £1,000 in the process.
Eight-year-old Gracie Honeysett had 15 inches chopped off her hair in front of her whole school during morning assembly on Monday.
The Halfway Houses' pupil donated the tresses to the Little Princess Trust, which creates real hair wigs for children who have lost theirs from cancer treatment.
Gracie also managed to raise at least £850 for the charity from sponsorship and from a non-uniform day at the Southdown Road school.
Gracie’s mum, Jo Sharkie, was at the assembly for support.
She said: “When she was a baby she barely had any hair, but before her haircut it was way past her bum.
“She was very excited about having her hair cut and all the children gasped when they saw it.
“I think they were more shocked to see how long it was to begin with!”
