A timeline detailing thousands of years of Island history has been unveiled at Minster Gatehouse Museum.
It’s a stunning addition to the popular venue and is situated on the walls surrounding its 12th century stairwell.
Funded by a £2,000 grant from Ideas Test, the timeline journeys from 8,000BC to the present day.
It was created by artists, Julie Bradshaw, from Warden Bay, and Sittingbourne-based Anna Piles, and features scenes from “every important” event in Sheppey’s history.
About 100 people attended Saturday’s unveiling, including four Island students who won a competition to have their pictures “painted into” the display.
Artist Julie Bradshaw said: “Even though I’ve worked on installations in the Tower of London, it was a privilege to do the timeline and the highlight of my career.”
Museum volunteer Mary Thomsett said she was “blown away” by the mural, adding: “I’d like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this such a great day.”
