A woman has said it was fate that her dog was not in her garden when a car ploughed into her fence.
The crash happened in Trinity Road, Sheerness, on Tuesday at about 8.10pm.
Laura Crisp, 53, said she would normally have let her female Staffie-cross, Nova, outside had she not gone upstairs.
She said: "There was a hell of a bang but I just thought someone was speeding but when I looked outside I saw a car was out of the road and in my garden.
"I phoned the police and explained what had happened.
"I was worried sick, especially thinking that Nova could've been in the garden.
"I felt very upset the morning after and to think that Nova could've been out there.
"It's fate that I decided to go upstairs rather than let her out.
"What made it worse was my late partner had done bits in that garden with me.
"I was up all night to check on my stuff."
A temporary repair has been made.
Police said they were called and are investigating what happened.
A spokesman said the smash involved a black Ford Fiesta and a HGV, but only the Fiesta collided with the fence.
