Glamour model and entrepreneur Katie Price has become the face of a product manufactured on Sheppey.
The I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star visited Medichem in Rushenden Road, Rushenden, today to see the factory where the company’s hair dye remover ColourB4 is produced.
The mum-of-five, 36, revealed it is not the first time she has been to Sheppey, having stayed at the home of a fellow ex-page three model from the Island.
She said: “I’m always changing my hair colour. I’m always going from dark to blonde, dark to blonde and I tried this and I couldn’t believe how well it worked so I tweeted about it.”
Capitalising on the promotion to her nearly two million followers the Island firm got in touch with Katie and she has now signed on to become the product’s global ambassador.
She said: “I never put my name to products but I have with this one because it really does work. I mean I’m in the industry and most of us extensions and stuff and keep colouring all the time.
“That’s why I came here today to see the factory and visit the team. They actually make it all here.”
She joked it was a bit like “Willy Wonka” seeing the plant.
Medichem’s founder and managing director Tom Allsworth said he was “absolutely delighted” to have Katie on board and said having a celebrity endorsement would hopefully take the business to a new level.
The company is worth £10 million and has ben up and running for 22 years.
ColourB4 first went on sale four years ago and it is now exported to more than 40 countries.
