St George's Primary School in Minster
A man has been arrested near the entrance to a Sheppey primary school on suspicion of possessing a knife this afternoon.
Children at St George's, in Minster, were kept back for 20 minutes after leaving time at 3.10pm after police warnings of a dangerous man outside.
A witness reported seeing someone in his 30s being handcuffed by officers in Chequers Road, just past the entrance to the school.
A Kent Police spokesman said there was no indication the man tried to gain access to the school at any time.
The suspect was also arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The children have now been allowed leave.
