A Lithuanian man who has been found guilty of rape has been told he faces deportation.

Victor Akulic, 43, previously of Alexandra Road, Sheerness, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court last Wednesday.

He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and last week was found guilty of rape, witness intimidation and further count of assault.

The court heard how he subjected a female victim to a series of beatings and on August 22 last year, during a particularly brutal assault, also forced her to commit a sexual act on him.

After the case was reported to police he returned to the victim’s address and threatened her further.

The judge warned Akulic to expect a significant sentence and that he would also be deported on completion of the sentence.

He has been remanded until he appears for sentence at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, March 16.
