The planned weekend closure of part of the A249 has been cancelled.
Resurfacing works scheduled for the end of this week on the Sheppey-bound carriageway between the Stockbury roundabout and Key Street are no longer going ahead.
A three-day closure was meant to be in place from 8pm on Friday, November 24, until 5am on Monday, November 27. Although it is not going ahead this weekend a new date for the resurfacing work has yet to be decided and scheduled.
A spokesman for National Highways said: “This weekend's closure to resurface a section of the northbound A249 (towards Sheppey) between the Stockbury roundabout and Key Street will not be going ahead as planned.
“Every road closure is carefully planned and scheduled to minimise disruption and inconvenience. The decision was taken to reschedule this closure for a weekend when more subcontractors were available and therefore, more work could be conducted, reducing the amount of future closures.
“Keep an eye on our project webpage for the most up-to-date information about upcoming closures.”
The cancelled closure comes after the closure of the Stockbury roundabout last weekend.
It reopened on Monday morning after shutting last Friday for realignment works.
Despite the cancellation there are more closures to come as work progresses on the construction of a flyover on the A249.
On Wednesday December 6, there will be an overnight closure of the Maidstone-bound carriageway.

The carriageway will be shut between the Bobbing and Stockbury roundabouts from 8pm until 5am on Thursday, December 7 for emergency repairs.
A diversion will be in place from the Bobbing Roundabout via the Sheppey Way, Key Street Roundabout, Maidstone Road and Oad Street to rejoin the A249.
If you’re travelling from the Sheppey and Sittingbourne direction and want to join the M2 you should follow the diversion route above, then continue on the A249 southbound to M20 junction 7, where you can join the A249 northbound and return to Stockbury Roundabout.
