Man charged with having knife in Beach Street, Sheerness, and assaulting police

A man is set to appear in court, accused of assaulting police when they arrested him on suspicion of having a knife.
The officers were called to an incident in Beach Street, Sheerness in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 22).
When they detained the suspect a knife was recovered.
During the arrest, it is alleged that two constables were assaulted.
Darren Cattel, of High Street, Sheerness, was later charged with possession of a knife in a public place and two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.
The 41-year-old was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 18.
