Minstrels’ feelgood summer songs for show at Sheppey Little Theatre
06:00, 04 July 2013
A group of Island performers are preparing to put on their new production featuring feelgood music from through the ages.
The Meyrick Minstrels will present Here Comes Summer at Sheppey Little Theatre tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday.
The show will recall memories of past sunny seasons through a series of songs and dance routines.
Musical numbers range from the 1950s right up to modern times, as two Adele tunes are incorporated.
Samantha Lynch-Garbett has been choreographing the show, which features performers aged from 13 to 75.
Producer Yvonne Walker, who also runs the group, said: “It is all feelgood songs making us think about summer.
“We chose the songs so that they tell stories about summer and relationships and love and a little bit of comedy as well.
"We get on extremely well as a group. We have for a very long time. We started about 35 years ago, and there are still some of us from when we first started.”
- Tickets, costing £5 each, are available from Sheppy Glass on 01795 580006. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
