The mysterious Moo Mop has returned to Sheppey after a short-break elsewhere in the county.

Having captured the hears of people on Sheppey the hand-painted mouse disappeared on holiday to Herne Bay a couple of months ago as part of a tourism drive.

After experiencing life on the Bay, she and her anonymous street artist, have returned to the Island next to the Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club in Sheerness.

Declaring their return, Moo Mop's creator said: "Finally the weather Moo Mop had been waiting for.

"Bright and early she woke to find the sun was out, the water was calm and a warm breeze blew across the Estuary - home she thought.

"As quick as her little legs could carry her she pushed her mouse boat into the water.

"As she sailed she thought back to her adventures in the bay, the things she'd seen and the people she had met... a real adventure.

"But above all she thought of home, her little tiny island a place of beauty, peace and calm..."

"But above all she thought of home, her little tiny island a place of beauty, peace and calm.

"There are many hidden gems also but the most special gem of all was the people who loved her - the community, these are her family.

"With the breeze on her side in no time at all she was back on dry land. Little Moo pulled her boat to shore and place it safely in its Mooring as for now she is home."

Moo Mop's appearance elsewhere in Kent has been organised by Hello Herne Bay - a group tasked with showcasing and enticing visitors to the town.

Her nameless creator was asked to bring the little mouse across the estuary to help create a tourist trail.

The mouse started life as a little drawing, created on a wall where an NHS nurse sometimes ate her lunch.

It turned out the artist behind it was none other than the nurse’s husband who, having seen her pandemic exhaustion, was keen to cheer up.

Her anonymous creator has since painted her in places around the Isle of Sheppey, where she has become a hit amongst locals who enjoy spotting her.
