A man accused of murdering a teenager in Faversham is planning to plead not guilty, Maidstone Crown Court heard on Tuesday.

Ricky Mount, 21, appeared in the dock with his 44-year-old mother Maxine Liddle, who is charged with assisting an offender by disposing of a knife and clothing.

They were due to enter pleas to the charges but the hearing was adjourned until October 2.

Adam Beaney, 19, of died from a single stab wound at Faversham recreation ground on May 30.

A former pupil of Whitstable Community College and Sheppey College, Adam lived with his grandmother in Faversham . He had a loving relationship with his girlfriend Alicia, and was a lover of reggae music and football, supporting Manchester United.

Eleanor Laws, prosecuting, said she had been informed by defence lawyers that both Mount, of Edward Vinson Drive, Faversham, and Liddle, of Lewis Close, also Faversham, would enter not guilty pleas.

Mount’s trial has been set for January 18 next year. He was remanded in custody. Judge Andrew Patience QC continued Liddle’s conditional bail.
