The 11 members of Memory Lane have been warming up their vocal chords and polishing their routines ready for an evening of entertainment coming up later this month.

The cast were at Vincent Court, Vincent Gardens, Sheerness, trying on their costumes.

The group, which has been going since 1988, perform a show to raise money for a different local charity every year. This time it will be for Swale Stroke Group.

They also visit nursing homes and clubs to cheer people up throughout the year and perform songs from as early as the 1940s right up to the 1970s.

Their latest show is called All Kinds of Everything and as the name suggests there will be a variety of acts including comedy spots, musical numbers and even some violin playing.

Leader and producer Pamela Boston said: “Each member of the group this year has chosen their favourite songs. Normally I pick the programme but this year I have left it to the cast.”

She added: “We love our singing. Quite a few of my group belong to other groups as well.

“We find that music, especially in those nursing homes, it brings people to life and that’s what we like to see. That’s our main aim – to cheer other people up.”

All Kinds of Everything will be at Sheppey Little Theatre, Meyrick Road, Sheerness, on Saturday, September 26.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets, costing £6 each, are available from Sheppy Glass, Broadway, Sheerness.
