Person in hospital and A249 closed at Cowstead Corner, Sheppey after lorry overturned on roundabout

A person has been taken to hospital after a lorry overturned on a busy roundabout.
Fire engines and ambulance crews attended the roundabout at Cowstead Corner, on the A249 on Sheppey after the HGV ended up on its side.
A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “We were called at approximately 6.30am this morning (Aug 23) to reports of a RTC involving a lorry on the A249.
“Crews assessed and treated one person at the scene before taking them to the Medway Maritime Hospital.”
Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it was called to reports of a lorry on its side.
A spokesman said: “Two fire engines attended and assisted Kent Police.”
The vehicle has been removed and one lane reopened since around 12pm.
One lane remains closed as the debris is cleared. No other vehicles were involved.
Traffic is said to be coping well.
