Villagers had another reason to celebrate on Valentine’s Day: The opening of a new parish office.
More than 50 residents, community representatives and local business members went along to the official opening of Minster Parish Council’s new building, which is aptly in Love Lane, on Friday.
Mayor of Swale, Cllr Sue Gent, was the guest of honour who cut the red ribbon before wishing the council well for its work in the area.
It is situated on the old hospital site and members were given permission to have the space after making a request when the planning application for the housing development was put before Swale council.
They asked if the old part of the building could be retained and converted into an office and meeting room, which was agreed by the developers Persimmon and the borough’s planning committee.
It was then decided the building was not considered suitable for conversion, so an amended design was approved, retaining the overall shape but replacing it.
Parish clerk Trish Codrington thanked everyone for their support of the project.
She said: “We promise to work very hard to deliver the best service to you in the coming years.”
A meeting of the council will take place at its new home tomorrow (Thursday) evening.
