A cycling extravaganza, taking in four countries in four days, is being organised to raise money for a children’s hospice.
Retired PE instructor Kenny Allen is putting plans together for a group to take on the Continental challenge next spring.
The event, which will take start in England on May 19 and take in France, Holland and Belgium, will raise money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
The charity has a facility in Bobbing which cares for youngsters with life limiting conditions.
Mr Allen, of Hearts Delight in Borden, said: “I’ve got about 40 people signed up at the moment. I’m hoping to take as many people with us as we can.
“It gives people the chance to have something to look forward to.”
The 67-year-old grandfather added: “I chose Demelza because it’s a good organisation and they would have been affected by what’s going on at the moment as they can’t fundraise like they normally would.”
On day one, the trip will leave from Demelza House in Rook Lane at about 9am bound for the French port town of Calais.
The second leg will be a 73-mile trip from Calais to Bruges stopping for lunch in Nieuport.
On from there on the third day, cyclists will whizz through Sluis and Ypres and clock up a total of 66 miles.
Participants will get to witness one of the oldest windmills in Holland and the special Last Post ceremony in Ypres.
The group will also lay a wreath to war heroes on behalf of Sittingbourne and Demelza.
The party will then head back to Calais on day four after completing the 234-mile trip.
It costs £450 and includes ferry, hotel and meals.
