Plans have been unveiled for a new Marston's pub at Neats Court in Queenborough, Sheppey

Plans for the new pub at Neats Court have been unveiled.

The family venue will be run by brewery giant, Marston’s, and is due to open in spring or early summer next year.

It will be situated behind Morrisons in the plot which houses the B&M and Iceland stores which opened at the £30m retail park in September.

Giles Haywood, of LXB, the developer behind the Neats Court, said a planning application regarding the pub has been submitted to Swale council.

He said he hoped a decision on the venue, which is part of phase 2c of the park’s overall development, would be made soon.

If plans are approved it is not yet known how many jobs the new pub will create, but according to Mr Haywood it will feature a large garden area, “big enough for kids to run around in while families are in the retail park”.

The developer said “two or three units” of phase 2c remain up for grabs and discussions were underway with “national retailers” about occupying the space.

Phase 2b of the park will be complete with the opening of Poundland in early December, and Sports Direct, on a date yet to be confirmed.

Mr Haywood said: “We’re pleased with the park’s progress.

“It’s obviously great that part of it is open already and we understand Iceland and B&M stores are trading really well.

“The car park looks fairly full so it’s obviously being well used.

“We look forward to completing the scheme and working with the local community to achieve that.”
