Police have closed off Minster Road tonight after a hole appeared following today's torrential rain.
Officers have been stationed at the junctions with The Broadway and Barton Hill Drive.
Cones have also been placed along a section of the road.
It is believed a pipe may have burst after being unable to cope with the rainfall.
Kent Highways has tweeted: "Lane closure due to void in the road. Police are currently on scene."
