An elderly woman has been left terrified after a man walked into her house and stole her handbag.
The incident happened in Wellesley Road, Sheerness, at around 7.30am this morning.
The man, who was wearing dark clothing and a black hooded top, ran out of the house with the black bag, which contained hundreds of pounds of cash and other personal items including bank cards, keys and a passport.
Sgt Neil Kimber, investigating officer, said: "The actions of this man has left the 74-year-old victim very shaken up.
"To take the risk of entering someone’s private property shows he’s an opportunist with little or no thought for anyone else.
"At the time of day that it occurred, people would have been going to work so I’m hoping someone will have seen him and can help with the investigation.
"I think this crime should also send out a warning to people to make sure their doors and windows are secure otherwise criminals will take advantage."
