Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses to an accident which left a schoolboy fighting for his life after he was hit by a car.

Eleven-year-old Miles Rogers suffered serious head injuries and has remained in a coma since the incident on Saturday, October 15.

The Minster Primary School pupil remains in a serious but stable condition at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The driver of a blue Toyota car was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving shortly afterwards.

The 56-year-old man from Bingley, West Yorkshire, was released on police bail until February 6.

Officers still need to hear from any witnesses to the accident.

Det Sgt Scott Lynch, who is leading the investigation, said: “It is more than two weeks since this collision occurred and so far witnesses have been slow to come forward.

“I would ask anyone who was in Lower Road that afternoon and saw this lad riding his bike or witnessed the incident to give me a call. Your evidence may prove vital to this investigation.”

Miles, from the Thistle Hill area of Minster, was crossing the Lower Road with his BMX bike when he was hit by the car at about 4.45pm.

He had been watching a game with friends at Sheppey Rugby Club.

The Kent Air Ambulance was called but the youngster was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
